Removals Swansea

Moving home is one of the most stressful experiences most of us will encounter in our lives. Making sure you have all your possessions, that all the necessary paperwork is completed and that your new property is ready to move into is enough to reduce even a calm and collected householder to tears. It's at times like this you need the right people on your side: the right estate agent, the right solicitor, and crucially the right removals team. Whether you're moving to Swansea, away from Swansea, or between properties within the town, Maskell’s Removals and Storage are the company to call to ensure your move goes smoothly and you arrive at your new address fresh and ready to begin a new chapter in your life.

Let’s take a look at a few tips from Swansea removals experts which may help to make your big move less stressful:

Begin packing a week in advance

We all have clothes, household items and personal effects which we do not use from one week to the next. If you can identify some of these belongings you can pack them away well ahead of time, meaning there’s that much less to think about in the hectic last couple of days. If you want things to go really smoothly, pack all the clothes and personal items you will need for your final week in your old house into suitcases. Then pack EVERYTHING ELSE ready for moving over the next few days, so that when the big day arrives you only have a few items to remember.

Bags and boxes

Large bin liners are an excellent way to pack most of your clothes, and also bedding. Use tape and a marker pen to label each bag so you can find the clothes you want at the other end. Use cardboard cartons (preferably double walled) for solid objects, packing out the space with bubble wrap to prevent the items from moving about in transit. Tape the boxes securely, and write on them which room they belong in at your destination. Boxes, tape and bubble wrap are available from Maskell’s removals of Swansea.

White goods

Fridges and freezers, washing machines and dryers, cookers and other large appliances will need to be disconnected before being moved. Check with your Swansea removals service ahead of time if they can perform this service for you – if not, you’ll have to handle it yourself. All the above should be emptied and allowed to reach room temperature before being moved, and your movers will likely want to load these items onto the van first.

Fragile items

Fragile ornaments, mirrors, personal electronics, and other delicate items can be securely wrapped and loaded onto a removal van, but it’s usually simpler and less stressful for everyone if you just take them in your car. That way you don’t have to worry about them being damaged while out of your sight in the removal van, and you wont be searching for them desperately later that night.
